Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of:
- SQL Drills at https://sqldrills.com — our free, no-account SQL practice tool (the "Free Tool"); and
- SQL Tutor at https://tutor.sqldrills.com — our subscription-based, AI-powered SQL tutoring tool (the "Subscription Tool"),
together referred to as the "Tools," operated by SQL Drills ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using either Tool, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Tools.
1. Use of the Tools
SQL Drills provides free, browser-based SQL practice exercises and educational content, usable without an account. SQL Tutor provides AI-powered SQL tutoring feedback as a paid subscription service requiring an account. You may use the Tools for personal, non-commercial, and educational purposes only.
You agree not to:
- Use the Tools for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Tools, their underlying systems, or another user's account
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content from the Tools without our express written permission
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Tools in a way that disrupts or degrades their performance
- Reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Tools' content without permission
- Share your SQL Tutor account credentials with others or use the service to provide tutoring feedback to third parties on a commercial basis
- Submit content to the AI tutoring feature that is unlawful, abusive, or unrelated to learning SQL
2. Accounts (SQL Tutor)
To use SQL Tutor, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at sqldrills@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
3. Subscriptions, Billing, and Free Trial (SQL Tutor)
SQL Tutor is offered on a monthly or yearly subscription basis, as described on our pricing page at the time of purchase. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your chosen payment method until you cancel.
- Payment processing: All payments are processed by Polar Software Inc., our third-party payment processor and merchant of record. Polar's own terms govern the payment transaction itself.
- Free trial: New accounts receive a limited number of free AI-assisted tutoring interactions before a subscription is required to continue. The number and scope of free interactions may change at our discretion.
- Billing cycle: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, depending on your plan) until canceled.
- Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing management portal accessible from your account page. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not automatically entitle you to a refund for the current billing period unless required by law.
- Refunds: All sales are final, and payments are generally non-refundable. That said, we understand exceptional circumstances come up — refunds may be granted on a case-by-case basis at our sole discretion if you contact us at sqldrills@gmail.com to explain your situation. Nothing in this policy limits any statutory refund rights you may have under applicable law.
- Price changes: We may change subscription pricing going forward. We will provide reasonable notice of any price increase before it applies to your next renewal.
4. AI-Generated Content (SQL Tutor)
SQL Tutor uses a third-party AI service (OpenAI) to generate tutoring feedback based on your submitted queries and questions. AI-generated feedback is provided for educational purposes only and may occasionally be incomplete, inaccurate, or not fully applicable to your specific situation. You should use your own judgment when applying any feedback or guidance provided by the AI feature.
5. Intellectual Property
All content on the Tools — including but not limited to SQL exercises, problem sets, explanations, text, code, and design — is owned by or licensed to SQL Drills and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, reproduce, republish, or redistribute any content from the Tools for commercial purposes without our express written permission. Personal, educational use (such as sharing a link or referencing an exercise for study) is permitted.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Tools are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Tools will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
The SQL exercises, tutoring feedback, and educational content are provided for learning purposes only. We make no guarantee as to their accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose, including preparation for any specific exam, certification, or job role.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SQL Drills shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Tools or their content.
For SQL Drills, which is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed $0.
For SQL Tutor, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the total amount you paid us for the subscription in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
8. Third-Party Services
The Tools rely on third-party services, including Google Analytics (both Tools), and — for SQL Tutor — Supabase (account and data storage), OpenAI (AI-generated feedback), Polar (payment processing), and Resend (transactional email delivery). Your use of the Tools is also subject to the applicable terms and policies of these providers. We are not responsible for the practices, availability, or performance of any third-party service.
9. Links to Other Sites
The Tools may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for your convenience only. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your SQL Tutor account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. If your account is terminated for cause, you will not be entitled to a refund of any remaining subscription period, except where required by law.
11. Modifications to the Tools
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue either Tool or any part of it at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Tools.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of either Tool after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
